Most of their gears are grays from, you guess it, Mainland China.

    Some of their items include:

Nikon D200 for S$2,100 (gray, Chinese words on the box)
Nikon 18-200 VR for S$1,180 (gray)
    Nikon SB800 for S$580 (gray)
Fuji S5 Pro for S$2,800 (local set, the highest price I have seen so far)
Shanghai Seagull 4A-109 for S$480 (gray)
Some Gitzo tripods (I did not check the prices)
China made Pelikan case look-alike cases.
    Canon equipment

I did asked for the Gitzo tripod...GT1540 selling @ $750 including GST which is same price as TKFoto.

Orient - yes, another alternative to the few regular stores.

We can always get those items that are unlikely to need any warranty like some simple lenses. What I have in mind are like Tokina lenses - good olde screwdriver AF and mostly mechanical construction. BTW, I dislike those CP prices - way too high compared to that I see elsewhere and moreover, bundled with so many of those useless freebies. It is about time we get some grey sets to compete with CP.

For example, a grey set of Tk12-24F4 should sell for $700 whereas most stores quote $860 or so.

Muz check it out in the next few days. Anyone got their phone no?

No, Canon products never interest me... well except their photocopiers.
I like canon photorecords and photostitch that comes with their printer...

But seriously, would you consider getting grey set just for about $100 diff? Personally, I won't bother with grey sets, and willing to pay abit more being assured of the product. Sure the first few may be of good quality, then later it gets worse. But I am not saying that this new shop is like that. If bad seller, that's what they would do to get more ripoffs.

Juz back from Orient Photo and carrying in my bag is a brand new Tokina12-24F4. Paid 710 bucks for it and more than 100% happy.

In the past, just simply refuse to pay so much more for this lens that comes with some useless freebies. I dun care about warranty for lenses.

I went to the store today too. Question about the SB800. I was quoted 530. Asked about warranty. The sales person said valid in Singapore and China only. ???

That was what i thought but when i ask about the warranty again he sounds doubtful.
    Our conversation:

Me: Does it comes with international warranty?
The sales person (TSP): No and its only for Singapore and China.
Me: Sg and China are you sure if there are such warranty?
TSP: Yeah... i think. *in an unsure tone*

I guess this is how it works. Stuff are under warranty in PRC. They sell you the product. If you need the repairs, bring it to the shop - they send it by DHL to PRC to get it repaired and then back by the same way. The shop bears the courier cost. You're covered. Only diff is that it might take a little longer. I reckon it should be just 3 to 4 days longer la.

Dropped by at the shop today.

B+W filter in abundance. But pricing a tad high.

Those looking for the Canon original protection filter 77mm, i saw was $70

NPE-3 for you 1 series users are tagged @ $210

Pricing i fancy are so so.

    Velbon products look good.

But the rest of the item's pricing i feel are so so...

I don't trust my equipment being repaired in PRC. Anything can happened.

I guess I consider my self very fortunate to get a great buy from them. So it seems that there ain't many other stuff that they sell at a good bargain.

Sorry, what is the meaning of "grays?"

Are they second hand goods? Or are they illegally manufactured? Or manufactured by say, Thailand instead of Japan?

I was at Orient earlier today and they quoted 2.6K for a 70-200mm IS L.

10 days 1 to 1 change is quite good. John 3:16 and CP also provide the 1-1 change in several days, right?

Good to have one to one change. But what if, the changed one was a changed one. It's like a deck of cards then. You may not get As all the time. A joker may pop up without you knowing.

Usually, I buy what I see and if there was problem, I would prefer to deal with the agent for fixes. Gray or agent set, that should be the way IMHO.
