I Have a C-750, thinking to upgrade to a SP550.
As the SP550 is available in Singapore, wonder any one else (Beside Lawrence who had did a very good review on it) here have bought it and care to share their opinion on the performance of this camera? Particularly, from those who was a C-750 user? Thanks. Raymond Last edited by Raymondb; 6th March 2007 at 09:02 AM. |

I used to havce the C3040 which is somewhat similar to the C750. Tested the SP550 and here is my take on it:
1. Image quality is good, color is typical of Olympus - vibrant 2. Laggy no doubt about that 3. You would not need a screw on telephoto lens for this baby can zoom here zoom there 4. I like the Bulky body for the SP350 for me is too thin to hold, weight is good, very similar to my C3040. But the one thing I truly hope that Olympus would bring back is the F1.8 lens like the C3000-C5000 camedia series so we need to up the ISO that risk grainy pics especially when you zoom. |

When you say laggy, do you mean the sp550 is more lagggy than your c3040? which aspect is laggy on the sp550, AF? shot to shot? powering on/off? reviewing of photos on camera? or is it all of the above? How does the sp550 perform under dim light condition? Very slow AF? Failure rate high? Can't focus at all? Did the AF assist help? The IS feature of the sp550 is something that my C-750 does not have. Hows the effectiveness? Base on your experience, how many stop could be step down by using this feature? Thanks for your patient and sorry for so many questions being asked. Raymond |

i was testing out the zoom yesterday at the IT show... wasn't too impressed by the zoom as had expected 18x to be more than i saw but the IS, that i was very impressed as at maximum zoom my hand are not too stable but the images turn out very good...
high chance i'll be getting this camera... ![]() |

also manage to lay my hand on this camera in the IT show. Maybe is me, personally i feel that the zooming is very sluggish for my taste and the writing speed , even into the internal memory, is slow. Does any of u have the same experience/feedback?
