Default IR Gelatin filters

Have anyone tried using that on those lenses that only allow the use the of rear filters?

I need such one for my fisheye, Sigma 8mm, donno where can I find one?

Also, when using gelatin filter, is it possible to view through the view finder?

Hi there,

Here are some of my shots taken using Lee #87 IR Gelatin Filter.

The filter is placed right in at the rear elenment, so you can't view through the view finder.

Got it at Cathay. Not sure if they still have stock. Talk to Florence and ask her if she still have any stock left, if not have to place order.
Can't remember the price now, maybe $30 to $40. IIRC.

Here's what Francis247 said in the thread he gave as a link:

1. The permitted transmission begins at above 730nm which is to say that more visible lights/colours are block off hence only can do Black and White. (Hoya R72 transmission begins at above 720nm)[Please correct me if I am wrong on this]

2. Auto-Focusing is not possible when the filter is in place, I can only switch it to Manual Focusing and zoom to infinity for my shot. One way to overcome is to compose my shot first without the filter, try autofocusing and switch the focusing to manual. Then remove the lens to slip in the gelatin filter. Mount the lens back and shoot.
Another method will be to roughly gauge the location of distance scale then try to adjust to that position when mounting back the lens, but most of the time, the distance scale is around the infinity index.

The filter price is in the sticky thread http://forums.clubsnap.org/showthread.php?t=223587
Listed as Lee #87 Polyester
Btw, Lee #87 is not a Gelatin filter. It is a polyester filter.
More info in pg 3 of PDF

Go look for Florence and place an order.
But need to pay upfront. Do note that it might take a long time...
