FZ50 or DSLR

Hi Guys,

need your help to decide. I wish to get a new camera (im a previous fz5 owner) and im thinking whther to get the fz50 or a budget dslr (such as n70, canon 350d/400d). I'm not into pro photography but just more on a hobby of mine. Would buying the fz50 is enough to replace what the dslr can do in terms of zoom capability and simpe macro photography?

I'm just thinking that buying a dslr is essential but it may cost you more especially if one wishes to buy a 400mm lenses that fz50 is capable as well. i sthere a big difference?

also, if I were to buy the fz50, what recommended shops you can advise?

I bought my FZ-50 from MS color for 800++...

E-quote them to get the best price they can offer to you. The gift will be "bigger" too

I am just a newbie in this hobby, so cannot advice on whether DSLR or Prosumer is enough for you. But it's better to follow your heart as there are so many pros and cons in this world.

Get something which you will enjoy and don't look back on the other option you had given up

I am used to be like you. I had Pentax DSLR and FZ-50 in my mind. But had chosen FZ-50

The most impt qn : Cash

I chose a FZ50 due to the fact that the future upgrade and maintainence is minimal. For DSLR, good lens can cost near to the body sometimes.

Since u already used a digicam for sometime, it will be better for u to venture into DSLR for more flexibility and creativity.

Afterall, DSLR is ex for some good reasons....

Hi,

I thought about the same thing 2 years back, i ended up buying a FZ30 .. then 9 months later "upgrading" to a 350D.

Its really down to, is it a hobby that you only do every now and then? or it is something you will grow with and then outgrow the FZ50. In my case the FZ30 didnt measure up in the ISO/noise category so i went for the DSLR and i've never looked back.

Feeler care tell us how much you got the FZ-50 from the show as well as the package they throw in. Cause my hands have been itchy for the past days craving to buy a FZ-50.

Just went window shopping for FZ-50 at retail shops.

Was quote - SGD 880( standard package). etc.... 1 gb card & camera case.

Trying hard not to whip out my cash while in the shops.

ONly 10 bucks cheaper since i got mine in Dec 06.....

i got mine at 850, but just got a new toy to go with it.... FL-50... *pain*pain* TS, FZ50 is good, hav a long range. just invest in a flash and the noise problem would be reduced
