Today the sun was finally out in full strength, so I got to shoot after 3 days of sulking at home. =D
After walking a few circles around the Chopsticks Memorial today probably going to get wide convertor for my H2 soon. Cannot get good vantage point with my widest leh, don't know how teerex can shoot so wide!!! =( Anyways, enough whining, first shot was for fun just to try something different and see how it was. #1 ![]() #2 ![]() #3 ![]() |

Hehehe, yah, definitely overdone. Just fooling around because I forgot about shooting into the sun, so saw the effect wasn't too ugly, took about 5 or 6 and only this one was in focus, hee hee.

Got, got I not yet "scrutinize mah.
OK, my 2 cents worth. #1 - The flare dun work for me, the memorial too much in the shadows no details. I know can't help it as you're shooting towards the sun. #2, #3 - the sky clouds are good but your pp the colors dun work for me. It's complete blue or complete purplish tint. I would mask the sky and pp the rest of the pic a different tone for some contrast. Looks like you gave them a blur effect too. #4, #5 works for me, but for #5 I would do a "S" curve to give some contrast and depth to the pic. #6, #7 - ok but I would prefer a sharper pic with more depth. It's a bit flat. Generally, a good try. Just prefer sharper pics and a different pp workflow. Try shooting at a smaller aperture to get a better DOF, but of course your shutter speed will not be 1sec anymore. f/2.8 gives you very shallow DOF. You may also try to +ev compensation to bring up exposure a little. Those are just my opinions/preferences. Last edited by teerex; 3rd March 2007 at 06:50 PM. |

#2, 3.. OI! For some reason OI doesn't work well on a lot of my shots. I think when there's too many elements best not to apply it, at least not for the action that whoever left here.. (Anyways, I redid this one, will post it up later. Took your advice and kept originals to play with when I'm bored.) I know what you mean, I have this funny fetish for f/2.8.. Trouble is I can't really see what's going in with f/8, my H2 doesn't display what the scene will look like, so I tend to shy away from it. Maybe I shall do it more often. Thanks for the comments, when Chinese Garden stops charging for CNY period, which should be soon I'll get to play again then, that's my next planned stop. Will be posting a few rehashed pictures, let me know what you think. Thanks dude, you're really very helpful. =) |

Here's the 2 I thought could have been done better, I admit I did think that the war memorial shots became too blur, hrm.
![]() ![]() This one, I don't know. Just looks more serious like that. Hehe. |

Thanks.
Actually I was wondering, I never seem to get the colours you guys get. Only on very special stuff like the funny overturned kayak at Siloso Beach, probably something to do with IR and it. Is it because of equipment or.. Because of my workflow, etc? Maybe Rashkae can help, since he's the only other guy I know shooting IR with Sony. =/ Er, just in case I'm not clear, I mean.. Deep blue sky, snowy white trees only. Then again, hrm, I don't shoot much of those. ![]() |

Ok! =D
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Sorry if the photos look a little large, might as well give better quality so when you save after PP won't degrade too much. =D Looking forward to see alternative results! |

It's correct.. =D
Sony will get red pictures.. Rashkae mentioned it before.. Cannot handle the correct white balance. =D http://forums.clubsnap.org/showthread.php?t=258925 ^^Here's the thread where he said it.. I can't seem to obtain the usual sort of IR out-of-cam pictures, hehe. Last edited by night86mare; 5th March 2007 at 10:13 AM. |

Here'a a quick one. Need more adjustments for the sky if the blue don't work for you. Too lazy to do a better mask also. But just to confirm that you can get blue sky and white trees. Depends on your workflow.

Mmmm, I see. I also very lazy to mask properly, heh. Effect is nice, but different from my usual PP, hrm. Weird, how come suddenly got 2 dots in the clouds on the left.
So just isolate the sky, modify, then desaturate the rest? |
