Default Resize of image from small to big

    hi all,
do you happen to know whether there is any software available in the market
which can do image resizing without losing data?

ie from 10 cm by 10 cm
    to 1m by 1m

can MX freehand do the job?
    thanks

All program doesn't lose details(data) when you enlarge.. just that it doesn't create enough details for the bigger size only.

is there any program available which can just treat a digital shot like film and simply allow it to be enlarge without pixelation?

impossible. you can try interpolation but the results will not be great.

how do you expect a program to paint out something there is not there?
the same as you capture a picture with a small word that is small until it is just a dot, and you expect a program to upsize it to a "S"...

Genuine Fractals software claims to be able to increase photos by 500% with little loss. Personally, I'm not too sure about this claim but it certainly does a great job and much better than just resizing in PS. If you have a vector file, you can resize this to any size without loss, the beauty of vectors!

vector is great, but for photos... , file size will be hell big due to all the fine details.

If anyone have a program like this, Bill Gates, Apple and Creative will all want to buy his software while Nikon, Canon, Phase One, etc will want him to shaft it up where the sun don't shine

You can try Genuine Fractals. This software is used by many ad companies to interpolate their images to poster or even billboard sizes. The software an also be used as a photoshop plug-in.

Seven years ago I bought the cheaper version to interpolate my humble 3 megapixel Olympus camera. Now with 8 and 10 megapixel cameras I can print A3 pics without interpolation. But if you want to print to, perhaps, A1 or A0 then GF may be the tool for you.

Its still debatable how effective are all mentioned softwares as compared to PS step interpolation which does an excellent job.

The result varies depend on the image, eg edge contrast, how much straight or curve lines...
Personally I see no real need..BUT if it help to be able to tell your client that you can print their A4 into A1 then up to you loh..lol

Genuine Fractals seems to be the industry standard for this kind of job but even with GF, increasing the file to 10x its original size is pushing it...

you can try what Firestone mentioned...step interpolation...simply increase the dimension of the image by 10% each time until you hit the required size...it is not that much worse than GF and on the plus side you don't have to buy more software...
