most prob the incident hit him hard psychologically.

    some might even need psychiatrists.

If your instructor doesn't sell dive trips to Hantu, I bet I know what the answer will be. BTW, I don't sell trips there but I have had some very nice dives there and I know lots of others who regularly dive there without incident.

Yes, an experienced diver died there during a training exercise in August 2000.

he's not the instructor for that dive trip

he's been interviewed base on his experience and mediacorp connections

Where did you hear that? I doubt stonngly that he bought gear already. He did pay $290 for the course though. Maybe this is what you are refering to?

normally the $290 includes the pool practice, theory and then the trip to the open water dive, includes the gears...

This is very cheap, maybe too cheap. I paid S$650 13 years ago for my open water course in Pulau Hantu and that did not include mask, fins, snorkel, weight belt and weights(Yes, I am not kidding) and wetsuit which I have to fork out money to purchase. I remember spending around S$900 to finish my open water course

I must thank my instructor for making me pay so much, I can't bear to give up scuba diving until today

I remember someone mentioned sometime ago that diving is as safe or as dangerous as what you want it to be. I think there is a lot of truth in this statement.

Think about it, whenever anyone wants to take up a open water qualification course, what is the first question he/she ask? Most of the time is "How much is the course har?". Maybe its because he/she is new to the sport and ofcourse naturally cost come up as the immediate question.

On the issue of cost of equipment, just ask yourself how much does your life cost considering that you have to depend TOTALLY on the equipment to survive underwater...

sounds like a big group diving...

personally, ive dived at hantu a few times and done my initial training there too. i was lucky that when i did some re-training i was the only one that day so it was 1-1 with my dive instructior.

the visibility is really really bad and the currents can be quite strong. personally, i wouldnt want to take more than 1-2 people down if i myself was an instructor cos its really easy to lose someone down there.

just have to back off a couple of feet and u cant be seen.
