They have a trial version available for download. You might want to give it a try before buying. So far I like the software. Most probably will buy it when the trial period finishes.

not sure, but can't seems to find link for the v1.0 download... only the previous beta4, which I heard have a few missing features in v1.0.

I just love the beta version. Version one comes with dust removal and healing brush.
That's all I normally need. I think I can do away with Photoshop liao....

i've tried the beta and v1.0... but can't seem to get my hands ard the interface. too clunky and cluttered for my tastes. however, it does look good for windoze people who need to organise lots of photos. i think for mac users, aperture seems better organised and user-friendly, IMO.

there is? i only saw the cloning and healing features, mentioned by weekh, on top of the standard curves and levels adjustments. the 'new' thing perhaps i saw was the loupe - a port fm aperture but not as powerful.

need to go dig ard some more b4 the trial expires...

its quite powerful. but the file organisation system really sucks and for that reason alone i wont get it.

haha im not sure myself... but I heard it from someone else... and saw a link talking about it...

    found the link

    Lightroom Turns On
February 18th is the target date for Adobe Lightroom 1.0 shipments, with US$199 being the introductory price (US$299 after April 1st). A new version of Camera Raw (ACR 3.7) will appear on that date, as well. Lightroom public beta uses will find their versions are no longer valid after 2/28/2007, so will have to make the decision whether to purchase or abandon.

One interesting bit in the release version: it has Capture NX like "control points" (called Targeted Adjustment Tool in Lightroom) that weren't in any of the public betas (a few other new features have popped up, as well).

Some quirks that I realised after some usage of the trial version (coming from an ACDSee user). I have never used Aperture before, so can't really compare.

    1) It does not support recursive file folder monitoring features (ie, if I set it to Auto Import D:/Photos, it won't detect any photos within the sub-folders. I have to manually import it.)

    2) It's a little slow on my AMD Opteron 146 system - especially when rendering the 1:1 previews. ACDSee is damn fast.

You need at least a dual-core system to get things working fast.

    2) The interface needs to get used to, IMHO. On the other hand, I'm used to ACDSee's folder structure management style.

    4) I pretty love the Develop panel, and the non-destructive editing and virtual copies. Quite easy, and fast to PP too.
