    Default cost of tripod head?

what is the market price for a tripod head?
i'm looking for one to replace a spoil one.. and does the price really matters?

as long as the tripod sturdy enough, the head shouldn't be much of a matter right? haha noob here!

A tripod head can cost anything from $50 to $3000 and more.

Price matters or not? Only you can answer that isn't it?

The tripod head should be able to hold your heaviest set up, just like the tripod.

It is as important as the tripod and it attach to your camera base plate.

Your tripod can support 5kg but ballhead can only support 1kg so no point.

Check B&S or this they have some good one.

Also check http://www.manfrotto.com/jsp/index.jsp for the respective spec give some extra like 2~3kg just in case you get a very heavy lens in time to go.

    YMMV

    Manfrotto 484rc2 (max 4kg) or 486rc2 (max 6kg) is a decent choice?

Another consideration is the weight of the head to add onto the weight of your tripod.
the 486RC2 head is a decent choice for your setup now.

Yar... 4kg load is enough IMO. 350D + small sized to mid sized lens isn't too heavy anyway.

Get the 486rc2 if you do not plan to upgrade in the near future. Or else i would recommend get the 488rc2 so that you do not need to upgrade or b&s to get another better tripod head again.

i just realised that the screw thread on my tripod isn't the same as some of the tripod heads on the market... wanted to buy tripod head from a bro in CS but sadly, it didn't fit... lucky he very nice LOL!

anyway, what is the tread size of my tripod huh? it fits my 350D...
    so is it a 1/4" or 3/8"??
is there like any adapter that i can buy to make it fit?

    i'm sure you mean bushing...

to keep it in place, just keep the head attached to the tripod all the time...and actually, some head's actually come with the bushing...it is actually to adapt the head to a camera with a larger screw thread but I don't see why you can't use it to adapt the tripod to the head...
