Just got my S40 today.

New & everything.

Wow. this camera is amazing....

Well, I guess there isn't much S40 users around here.

Why an S40 ? Well, my budget would not get me far and I thought if the shop has a great deal for me and with full warranty. Hey, @ 4.0 pix, I think I got a good deal here....

Now, where to find that CF card for that extra pic. I am snapping pix on the supplied 16mb CF card on lowest res mode. Just to get the hang of things....

The 128mb & 256mb cost about the same per mb. The 512mb cost about 10% more per mb.

Logic would be to get the bigger cap unless $ is an issue. But would convention wisdom have it that it is better to have 2 x 128mb than 1 x 256mb. For protection against corrupt data file or stuff ?

What is the common practice ?

lensman,
i've this query before but the reply was that the CF cards has never failed before unless by abnormal usage dropping etc.

so i'll assumed x1 would be just ok than x1+x1.

$0.02 worth !

I would be aiming for the 256mb card. Less 1 thing to carry around. Then maybe the prices comes down later, then can shoot for the 512mb - 1Gb card.

By then (with such a large cap card), I would also be needing a radiation-leak-proof neuclear battery for my S40
