Hi everyone,
Anyone knows of any shop selling a good range of second hand Nikon gear in London? I will be there in March and planning to visit one or a few. Thanks, |

Buying here brand new will still be cheaper than buying second hand goods in London after currency conversion.

There are a couple of camera stores just opposite the British Museum.
And there is always the famous Grays of Westminster - very small store. But like the previous poster has mentioned - they are not cheap. |

its not always cheap but its sometimes worthwhile to catch the train to vauxhall to visit fixationuk. They deal mainly with pro stuff and not only have a good collection of used stuff at very reasonable (sometimes below CS) prices but also a msg board where u can contact private sellers. website is www.fixationuk.com

Another one, MW Classic Cameras, Leroy House, Unit 3K,436 Essex Road, London N1 3 QP. If this is your first time in London, some information for you, else, ignore it. Every year London cost of living goes higher and higher and rental follows, so, do not expect cheap cameras and accessories. You can only offset the VAT 17.5 %( 18.5% ? ) when you leave Heathrow airport. You can bring your most expensive DSLR camera, shoot all the pictures you want and before you leave London for Singapore, sell it off to the shops if they are accepting, you can still make a profit Bring lots of cash Sterling Pounds from Singapore. They have no idea what is Singapore $$.They charged commission for your travellers cheque and on Sunday is 10%.

Not a shop, but when I was in London, I used to check out www.loot.com for deals on everything. Grabbed a guitar there really cheap (cheaper than what I would have paid in Singapore). Sold off before leaving there with a profit.
Perhaps you can find something there. cheers |

u might be lucky and catch the odd boot sale or 2 where u might get old film cameras, even leicas, going for cheap. If not, the established flea markets like camden and portebello rarely have good deals as most of the sellers are full time valuation analysts.....
Just my 2c worth from 2.5yrs in london (and counting)..... |

Hi all,
Just came back from London. Due to my schedule, I did not have time to visit the flea markets, but managed to visit a good second hand shop just before I left. The shop is located opposite the British Museum of Antiquties, near Tottenham Court Road, near Leicester Square tube station. The shop (part internet cafe) is called Aperture (apertureuk.com), and stocks mainly nikon and leica second hand lenses and bodies, they had a very goos selection. If anyone is dropping by London, this shop is definitely worth a look. |

hope you had a good time while you were here. U must be quite healthy/enthusiastic to walk from leicester Sq to Aperture!!! Aperture is as mentioned a great place with a great collection of stuff. I just don't always agree with their pricing.... still, a good place for lunch!

Right on that, the pricing is not the cheapest. but they have a very good range of MF lenses. Moreover, they have a new unit of ais 50mm f1.2, but at 420 sterling pounds, that will take a very subtantial pounding on anyone's wallet.
BTW the walk from Leceister Square to the British Museum is fine, as there are quite a few interesting book shops along the way. Din't have time to eat at Aperture, but had an expresso, cheaper than franchise stores. |
