Default Mac compatible software question for oly cams

Hi Guys,

I recently just changed to an iMac and have an existing E500
Anyone used this combination before.

If so, what are the softwares you use to download the photos and edit them
apart from photoshop cs?

Thanks!!!

Yeah, E500 is compatible with my iMac.. if you want to do some simple editing can also use the olympus master.

Inside your iMac there should be an application called Image Capture... that can be used to download pictures from the cam direct or from the CF Card...

I'm using Apple's Aperture at the moment... still trying to master it... Got Photoshop, but too complicated for me still, haven't tried it yet...

Oh yeah, i am using an iMac + E-500 combination as well.

.sit files are compressed files (same like .zip). Normally double clicking on .sit files will get it to be uncompressed and produce a new file (more often its a folder). Check the same directory where your .sit file is located for a new file/folder.
The only time a .sit file doesn't get decompressed is when the file (or your decompressing application - stuffit) is corrupted. 90% of the time an unsuccessful attempt to uncompress the file will give you some error indication. But then again, there's always an exception

i'm using Macbook with E500 too,

Just plug the usb cable then turn on yr E500, Press OK button ( Choose Storage mode)... after that your iMac should launch an application called "iPhoto" to download all of the photos from your camera automatically ( before you start downloading, you can choose btw delete/keep all the photos in your CF card after download finish )

If you shoot mostly in JPG files, You can use iPhoto for general edit/manage your photo collections, But iPhoto itself doesn't work seamlessly with photoshop... (It can, but a lot of thing to do before you could get it done) and it doesn't support RAW, So if you expected to shoot in RAW and use photoshop more offen in your workflow, you have to use Apple Aperture instead.

and for Olympus softwares that i've tried so far (Olympus studio... ), it's not work well on Intel-based Mac...it can crash your system every 5 mins.. if you're using iMac Intel... please make sure from their website that it's support your system
