but 850is is def more versatile yes, prices will drop etc, but the chances for shots along with what you really need are key basically 850is will probably perform better in most situations, really from the review i read on imaging resource the contrast and batt life on the ixus 60 are pretty blah |

On specs, 850IS has a 28mm wide lens, an optical image stabliser and face detect. One thing that most would not know unless you test the camera side by side is that for closer up shots, 60 have more chances to overexpose compared to 850IS IMHO. If budget isnt an issue go for the IXUS 850. O ya noise level is slight better =)

cos it comes with image stabiliser. and has wide angle. furthermore its a much newer model than ixus 60. plus. ixus 60 is going to be discontinued soon. ![]() get the ixus 850 i'd say if u're choosing between these two models. but u can wait for the price to drop if u're willing too.

yes, if it's discontinued it'd be pretty old, hahaha
discontinuation, not sure. but it's highly possible that support would not be so good as time goes along, since model is phased out and all that jazz |

those who are using the canon original case, do u find that the hole on top of the case is very big ?
cos if u try to pull the wrist strap throught the hole, it will come out. |

If you are on a budget or dun expect a lot from a compact cam, then the ixus60 is worth considering. It's smaller than the 850IS. Yes, the 850 is small enough, but somehow, some gals think the smaller the better.
In terms of looks, I don't know why they redesigned the 850IS. I think the 800IS looks much better, especially the back. Features wise as most have said it, the more expensive 850 naturally has more. About the only attractive point for me is the 28mm wide. As for IS, I'm not sure about other models/brands but on the 800IS, it isn't fantastic. I would expect the 850IS to be the same. It helps very little. If you are used to the IS found on Canon lenses, the IS on the compact is almost negligible. I'm not sure how it works but doubt it's a "real" IS with gyroscope. |

The original case would set u back a roughly 20-30 dollar while the original batter is retailing at $89 dollar but you can get it roughly for about $75. This is base on my buying experience.
