Do correct me if I'm wrong !

I'm an Aperture user. I don't have much experience with PS, but just from comparing PS elements and Aperture, I'd say they're two different programmes. PS has features that let you touch up blemishes in your photos, add special effects etc... Aperture doesn't.

Where Aperture beats PS, in my opinion, is in helping me manage my RAW files. It excels at that. I mainly like the way Aperture's lightbox concept allows me to very quickly sort hundreds of photos from a shoot, compare them and select the best ones. Aperture's virtual loupe is a handy feature here. This was something I would take hours to do using PS elements, but minutes using Aperture.

Of course, following that I do the post-processing, levels, contrast etc, but I'm not too good at all that so I"ll let someone else do the talking for that.

If I had lots of $$ I would get both, I think... Aperture to manage the raw files and most of the post-processing, and PS to do the touchups and add any optional effects.

I think it is more fair to compare Adobe's Lightroom with Apeture. Lightroom is Adobe's answer to mac's Apeture. In my opinion, if your need are handling lots of RAW files or sorting thru tons of photos all the time... either one is fine, i haven't use either so i dun know wads the diff btwn the two of them

PS on the other hand is more for editing an image one by one. Its in a different class of its own. PS allows you to manupulate a picture in almost any way you can imagine, but i dun think aperture or lightroom can do so much... or so i think....^^
