I am going greece next week for 7 days excluding flight time. I will bring 10-22 alone with 400d. Any advice against this? My other lens is 17-85is. I bought the 10-22 just before this trip so i thought i better not waste it.

i would just bring both. cause you'll never know when you'll need/want extra reach.
when i went to europe, i used my 17-35mm primarily. although i did use the 28mm and 50mm for low light scenes. |

bring both unless ur really really concerned about weight. the tele end of the 17-85 might come in useful.

FYI, I don't have the lens, so no need to PM me.. But, having used a borrowed copy, "nice" simply understating it. ![]() |

I brought a 24-85, 10-22 and a 50 for my Aussie trip last year. The 10-22 never left my camera. I never touched the other two lenses at all.

bringing 10-22 would be good for breathtaking landscapes, but usual street and stuff, a little reach MIGHT be better =)

For many years i never use more than 1 lens when overseas holiday. I remembered the things are too big for my lens when in europe. But then i usually carry only 50mm back in those days. I hope i can adapt to the 10-22. I went hong kong in december with 17-85is.

I would bring a 50mm along if I were you. Light, small and useful. That is what I did when I went to UK last year 10-22 plus a 50mm. In Athens, you may want to take the Parthenon from the south and east and the 22 will be too wide for that.
Remember 22 is equiv to 35 in film, which is a widish angle I will be going to Greece next month (work but I will have 1 day free in Athens) and I am likely to do the same. |

Bring both lenses. There will be many shot opportunities where you would prefer a tight framing. Both lenses are relatively light enough.
And also a speedlite, as daytime lighting is rather harsh there (no clouds). |

Depends on what type of photographer you are. When I went on a trip to US, I brought almost all my gear along. Really weighs a ton but I think the pics are worth it.

The lazy one lens does all type. Cant carry too much cos weak shoulders. This time i intend to wear a photo vest dont even want to carry a camera bag. But i want my pictures to be good enough to blow up to 8R and hang on the wall type.

Actually you shouldn't just bring the 10-22. I suggest you bring both. There isn't enough reach on the 10-22.

No advise against ur choice. Its ur choice.
My primary focal length for use is typically 18-70mm in travels. Of cos, there are scenes which I require extra wides thus. It all depends on what you want to shoot. ![]() Its all a matter of visual perception where this is concerned. No need to consult others on choice of lenses for travel. Enjoy. ![]() |

I don't believe in blaming myself for not having a lens at a certain location, even when travelling. I believe in making the most out of what I have at that moment. Imagine going through 1 year with a 20mm. Don't let the lack of equipment become an excuse. That being said, what you bring is entirely up to you.

hi there. congratulations on your purchase. the 10-22 is one hell of a lens for landscape photography. you may want to consider to get a tripod and a cable release to shoot night scenes which can be quite spectular as well!

I think nobody likes to lug a tripod around but that's the dedication you must have if you are really interested in making good photos. No other way to that.

I rather bring 2 lens than bring the tripod. Its hard to find a balance between comfort and equipment.

I always bring along my light weight 50mm 1.8 just in case my 10-22 doesn't reach.
