both should perform almost the same. but 850 starts from 28mm from the wide end where esle 800 is 35mm. that depends on your preference. i personally like the 28mm wide angle. very handy.

Now the best place to buy the 850IS is at bargain city rite ?

the only drawback for 850IS is that it does not have a batt indicator
