Advice needed on purchasing a canon digital camera

currently i am interested to purchase a canon digital camera for my younger bro as his

birthday gift .

However i am not very familiar with this ..

i am considering the canon ixus series ..

any recommendations ?

I also hope to knoe where is the best place to get a good bargain ...

Pls kindly advice ..

Hm... probably below 800 ? i think he likes the ixus series as he wans something more portable ... any recommendation? actually the proce is not a problem .. i just wan something easy to bring out and of good quality .. thanks

Y not you wait still march for the IT show that will be held @ suntec city from the 8-11 of March. I suppose there will launch of various new models for Canon as all its competitors over the last few weeks have been announcing their new line up for 2007.

hmmm .. cant wait as his bdae is just next week .. he used to own a ixus 500 .. but its damaged alr .. so he wans a digital cam quite badly ..

Ya i read the post alr .. but there is a problem .. it says there is no batt indicator ? how is tta so ? is all ixus series liek tat or just this one ?

All Ixus are like that. But when the battery is low, it will indicate. When is shown, you can take roughly another 30-40 shots max. =)

Yes, IXUS 850 is a recommended camera. Read this comprehensive review.

I like the wide angle lens, small and compact size.

i think with your budget
should be no prob getting a spare third party battery along with the cam =D

won't consider powershot a series?

Bring your damaged Ixus to Canon Service Centre and ask for a qoutation.
They may give you some trade-in offer for a currently available model.

That happened when I brought my damaged A95 for service. The saving can be $100+ depending on the model.

best is go for a trade-in or is wait for IT show in mar 2007 if u can persuade yr bro to hang for 1 more month.. guess the savings on both ends should about e same...
