As a listing of current olympus models, how would you classify them if I set in comparison with Nikon as follows?
For Nikon Entry & enthusiast level: D40 (2006 Nov) D70 (2003 Dec) D50 (2005 Apr) D70s (2005 Apr) D80 (2006 Aug) Expert & semi-professional level: D100 (2002 Feb) D200 (2005 Nov) High end & professional level: D2H (2003 Jul) D2Hs (2005 Feb) D2X (2004 Sep) D2Xs (2006 Jun) other than our local manufacturer website http://www.olympusimage.com.sg/produ...slr/index.html, what would you recommend instead that shows a far more organised specifications of the current models with more ease of reference? |

Hi zoossh, it may be a better idea to compile the information after PMA 07; it seems that there will be a couple of new cam bodies that will be announced/released together with a new roadmap showing future product lines.

we can add on later. besides better classification takes on the users, rather than by the manufacturers. i classified 3 levels of technical features levels based on the nikon semi pro D200 as a midline benchmark and would likely place canon 20D, 30D, 5D and sony KM alpha at the same level. not so sure about pentax *ist/K, samsung, KM dynax, olympus E, panasonic lumix, fujifilm s3/5pro.

entry & enthusiast level E300 (entry) E330 (entry) E500 (enthusiast) expert & semi-professional level E1 |

hence professional and high end - E1. entry level E500 & E300. then should the small built E400 and liveview E330 also be entry/enthusiasist level? i used Nikon D200/Canon 30D/5D as the benchmark for the expert/semi-pro level based on the level of complexity and the degree of control. so the size of build and accessory feature such as liveview are not considerations in that. |
