I'm a newbie to DSLR, can i consider 400D for my first DSLR? I'll need some advise/views from u 400D user guys.
1. Is it newbie friendly?, 2. Shots per fully charged batt?, 3. Is it a burden to carry it around/travelling?, 4. Is the default lens(18-55) good enough for a newbie?, 5. Goods 6. Maybe some important pts to note... Last edited by monstar; 8th February 2007 at 12:50 AM. |

1. Is it newbie friendly?
Yes, just on the camera and you can start to click your shutter happily. 2. Shots per fully charged batt?, Depends on how often you view your LCD and so on, rather subjective. 3. Is it a burden to carry it around/travelling? Not at all. 4. Is the default lens(15-55) good enough for a newbie? More than enough 5. Goods Good but prefer 350D, not the big LCD though |

Hi, me newbie to DSLR too. And just got the 400D last month. Here's what I gather from my 1 month experience...
1. Is it newbie friendly?, Yes, very. Comparing to the D80 that my department has, the 400D is much easier to navigate around; 2. Shots per fully charged batt?, Not sure, as I did not keep track.... 3. Is it a burden to carry it around/travelling?, Depends on individual. I have friend who even think that carrying a PowerShot A series is a burden.... 4. Is the default lens(15-55) good enough for a newbie?, I think so. So far, the only other lens that I need (for my daily phototaking of my kid) is the 70-210mm (but very seldom); 5. Goods Think you can do a search as this had been discussed numerous times, but generally the grip is a tad small, which you can add a BG-E3 external grip to compensate;6. Maybe some important pts to note...[/quote] Hmm....think other bro/sis can help you on that |

1. Is it newbie friendly?,
Yes, very. It has user friendly features. Basic shooting modes for novices and creative modes for advanced users.. 2. Shots per fully charged batt?, > 400 shots w/o flash, i use external flash to shoot.. 3. Is it a burden to carry it around/travelling?, Depends on individual. 4. Is the default lens(15-55) good enough for a newbie?, It should be 18-55mm.. Kit lens is gd for beginner to get some experience in photography... 5. Goods & Bads ?, That are many threads on this issues.. u may want to read up on it to find out more.. |

1. Is it newbie friendly?,
Most Canon dSLRs are really user friendly, and I believe the 400D is no exception. Found my way around the 30D in a day. 2. Shots per fully charged batt?, Subjective. Depends on whether you use the inbuilt flash a lot, review the LCD a lot and all. 3. Is it a burden to carry it around/travelling?, How bout this? My friend thinks carrying a bag is burden enough. I'd say it's quite diminuitive for a dSLR, and quite light and easy to carry around compared to the 30D and bigger. 4. Is the default lens(15-55) good enough for a newbie?, It's 18-55, and yes it is good enough. |
