Thought of getting the 400D. I have two questions:
1) Can I use my old flash - Maxwell DT-5000S zoom with it? Used this flash with my SLR cameras. 2) Would like to get 70-200 lens and some macro lens to go with it? Any suggestions which one to get?

Hi,
regarding your question 2, here is my opinion~~ Extra cash to spend for lens- 1. Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8 L IS USM 2. Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 USM Macro Good lens @ lower prices- 1. Canon EF 70-200mm f/4.0 L USM 2. EF-S 60mm f/2.8 USM |

Except I would suggest the 70-200 f/4L IS USM, unless you're really on a very tight budget, then get the non-IS version. If not, go all the way with the 2.8L IS version. Either way, all Canon 70-200Ls are tack sharp and perform very well. |

Bro,
Before anyone could give you a concerete proposal, can you let us know your estimated budget? People can always suggest this and that but what's the use if ur budget is < $2,000. |

Take 70-200 f2.8 IS L ---simply the best in its class.
![]() 400D works best with 430Ex or 580Ex. Last edited by jeff49er; 7th February 2007 at 11:07 AM. |

Budget less than $2,000 if I can manage. Otherwise, maybe I'll stick to the kit lens.

You have to ask if you really need the 2.8 and IS. To me, IS is good to have, but don't have also never mind. 2.8 also no need to have (for me lar). Most of my shots are at ISO100, f/8 and 1/800. I am using a code UI 80-200 f/2.8L (1994 batch??), and the pics are super sharp. Only problem: Lens is heavy. Wanna Test?? I can let you try the lens PM me if interested. IS is considered to be an additional feature to have.. Basically having L lens is having a " Luxury" n very good lens already... you can up the ISO to counter e IS feature of the lens...
You can save some money on buying non-IS lens... |

If you have plenty of $$$, then use Leica on Canon (or is it Carl Zeiss?), or customise-build your own lenses. Then in that scenerio, Canon lenses no good lor...
I am a Nikon convert. To me, both Nikon and Canon lenses are sharp enough for me. If you are talking superly sharp, like katana standard, then I dare not guarantee. For general purpose, like me to take family photos, and the occassional school event and wedding, it good enough for me. |
