    Default Leica ............. dslr

It's going to be very interesting years ahead now that Leica has introduced digital cameras (the entry model-10megapixel is priced around S$1,500).

as expected - yet another Panasonic re-made.
    Panasonic L1 dSLR review here
    Notice the resemblance? I think it's just a re-label?

It may be a rebadged panasonic, but you gotta love their service:

    All-round cover - inclusive

Accidents can happen - a careless moment, and your valuable camera equipment is ruined. This is no problem with the new LEICA DIGILUX 3: thanks to Leica's Additional Risk Warranty, any damage to the camera and your high-quality lens is insured for the first six months after the purchase date. We repair or replace your equipment with no questions asked. After that you benefit from the manufacturer's warranty which has been extended to three years. The extra guarantee is all part of Leica service. Where else can you find such a good deal?

With the kit lense. But I guess if you're looking for a true Leica DSLR, go for the R modular series. The review on most magazines on the L1 is quite bad. Most giving it 2 or 3 out of 5.

I'm not bashing the model. In fact I'm a big Leica fan and when I was looking for a DSLR, I was very much favouring the L1 until the reviews came and was not too favourable. Then, the pricing was much more than a D200 (L1 was US$2000). However, most of the reviews if read carefully, got more to do with the actual price to performance ratio then to do with any performance issues.

Tread carefully in this case. But the future, eg Digilux 4 (if it is still a DSLR) would possibly be a very strong contender.

The problem is that the lens is fantastic, but the Panasonic sensor is horrible... They even have noise at ISO 100!!!

Can always go for Olympus + Leica lens. Its not really a Leica lense. Just made under license. But its a superb lense non the less.

I think there is a slight misunderstanding here. There were 2 model of Leica camera mentioned in today's Digital Life: Digilux3 and V-lux1.

Digilux 3 is a DSLR cost S$4480 with interchangable lens.

    V-lux is a ultra-zoom pro-sumer cost S$1500.

Haha ... a case of "gian Leica until blur"......
well this is a good start, and I am sure in the next few years, Lecia will come out with better DSLRs to compete with the mass market, since for digital it is all about mass production of sensors .

To quote Bresson again : "photography with a Leica can be likened to a ... session on the psychiatrist's couch." I have to admit I am endeared myself, at least to the M series.

Say anyone can tell me how much it cost to get the Leica R9 with the Digital Modul R? I don't usually follow Leica as pocket book never big enough for it heheh.....but this link just got me to go visit their site after a really long time and I have to say not only is the Leica glass sweet but their camera bodies and accessories are something to die for... I love the R9 with the 10 megapixel attachment piece to convert it into a digital SLR. And the M series is the next best thing. I think I want to start planning my retirement from Nikon now
