Hi to all!
Got myself a EOS 400D few days back, however, whenever I turned it on, I get the infamous 'Err99' instantly. I discovered a technique which allowed me to shoot by opening the battery cover, close it back and my error disappeared! Another way is to hold the shutter button as soon as the camera starts up to allow fast picture taking and 'Err99' won't pop up. I read the manual and it says if you actually use the fast picture taking mode, it will not activate the 'Auto Dust Cleansing System' which brought me to curiousity of turning it off altogether in the settings. Maybe that's the thing causing the Err99 because by default, the dust cleansing system is activated everytime the camera is started. I turned it off and VOILA! It starts up normally and works fine.. I brought it back to the shop and he says this is a COMMON problem among 400D buyers.. But he used the same technique as me to make the camera work - disabling the dust cleansing system, apparently according to him, it's FIRMWARE problem. Is this true? Anyone with 400D experienced this before? Time to bring back to Canon itself as the site doesn't have the new firmware released yet. Sigh... Other than that, lovely camera to play with ![]() |

Why dont you bring it back to the shop? I think any reputable shop grant you the 7 day one-to-one exchange policy? I might be wrong but at least CP Marina does.

wah happen to you so fast ah...
Turn off the camera immediately, take out all batteries, flashes, lenses, take out CF card. The picture you last shot might have corrupted data. Wait for awhile and insert everything. Should be ok. |
