Does anyone have experience using an Olympus FL-36 on either the 350 or 400 Canons?
If so, does it work in auto or only manual? Thanks. |

I think you should move your topic to 4/3 thread. That is where dSLR supposed to be discussed. Ask admin to move.
I have no experience with Canon but I have the FL-50 and Olympus. What I think I should warn for is that the Canon TTL contacts are almost the same as Oly, Canon has one more than Oly but all the others are at the same place. That enables me to use the Canon off camera flash cable 2, which is half of Oly original price. That is good for me but bad for you. If you use the FL-36 on a Canon, the Canon TTL signals may disturb the Oly flash or even worse, the flash may demage your camera if you are not isolating the TTL signals so that they can not come in contact with the camera's TTL contacts. Only the middle, flash trigger and the side contacts on the flash should have electric contact with your camera. Why use an Oly flash on a Canon? Isn't Canon flash cheaper than Oly? If you get a Canon flash you can use the TTL. With the Oly flash you can not, so I do not see any advantage. ![]() |

Thanks. Reason for the question is that I already own the FL-36 for my Oly e-500 but was considering moving to a Canon, hence the question.

- Red AF assist light - Auto zoom function - TTL - GN-36 with tele lens On other camera than Oly: - Manual zoom function which is not needed if you have a powerful flash. - GN-36 with tele lens but you can have GN-50 or more with ANY lens if you get a good, older flash made for film. These are very very cheap and in many ways better than the FL-36, like four batteries making recharge quicker, tiltable/twistable head and so on. |

This is my 3rd Oly, but 1st dSLR. I'm still in the Oly camp and as the days go on I have less and less interest in switching, but the consideration and options are still open. |

Hi, Olyflyer,,,
I have E330 with FL36. as you said, you use Canon Off Shoe Cable for your FL36. My question is,,, Is the TTL still working ? I am considering to buy the Oly off shoe Cable, but it is very expensive. |

http://forums.clubsnap.org/showpost....5&postcount=23 where I think it actually belongs. This topic is about the FL-36 and the Canon 350D. There are no cables to fix that combination because more than just a cable is needed to be able to mix brands and get TTL. |
