Default IR on Sony A100

Hi guys,

Just to show it works on the A100...

No real composition or anything, very minimal PP, just a proof of concept.

I just attached an IR filter to my kit lens and shot a long exposure. The above pic was taken as a 4 sec exposure at ISO100, f/5.6. If I use a 50mm F/1.4 and shoot at 1.4 or 1.7 aperture, or bump up the ISO, i'll need even less time.

The original pic is very magenta. Put it in PS and clicked "auto-color" and it came out like that. If I tried actually properly manipulating the curves I can make it look even better.

Hi Rashkae,

Thank you very much for sharing this.

The A100 seems quite capable of good IR photography.

Cheers

Hi Pablo!

So is the H1, actually (see the "F717" thread on the first page here). The A100, like many DSLR cams, benefits from larger lenses and bigger apertures though.

Didn't see those cams listed in the "IR capable" list, so I thought I'd share.

Regards,
Mike
