Hello,
Been reading on the specs of the old film EOS-1, and it saes that this camera was built to resist a certain amount of water. However, have not been able to find what they define as "certain". Anyone with experience can enlighten me ? Heavey torrential rains ? Snow? running water (if i poured a cup of wter over it for example) submersed? light rain? drizzle? Thanks ![]() |

I guess it's fine as long as it's not submerged. Just my guess though.

Light rain and drizzle is fine. The weak part may be the battery compartment though - some 3rd party batts may not be as well-sealed as the original Canons.

i i were u, i wont be concerned ith the water thingy. if it gets in, well continue to trigger until it stop functioning.
to remove water, simply leave it to dry in a dessicator or dry box and it will revive. the gd old film cam. |

i ever shot in the rain with my 1D MKII and 17-40L, no problem one
some pple even submerged their 1D in water, may be they were really lucky http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/re...ssage=10642995 http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/re...ssage=14062784 Since the film body has less electronics, the chance of surviving a dip into water should be higher Last edited by Wai; 3rd February 2007 at 11:05 PM. |

love this line: "A whole string of explictives shot out of my mouth and I don't mean words like "nuts", "darn", "shoot", or "jimminy cricket"!" i think i would've said the same in his situation haha

The later 1V / 1D-2 etc are much better sealed than the older 1's. I'd be worried if it was raining heavily.

all the weather sealing shiet are only found on thier marketing brochures.
The REAL deal is in the instruction manual ...ahahhaa, under Care and Maintainence...it isays about the same thing as the rest of the EOS line of cameras ![]() Anyway, just use common sense when shooting lor, if you think the shot is so important tht you MUST stand in the middle of a hurricane or sandstorm to get it, go ahead. It is your shot to call ![]() DT ![]() |
