Speaking of that, some of us were thrown into the deep end of the pool when we had to make short films in 3-4 weeks in NUS.

That's where the sieve worked, and those who had the idea that hefting a videocam was only about being glamourous, dropped out/half-dead.

yes.. SAE is a year/s pgm for Dip/BA/MA. but i believe they do provide short courses for cert level as well..
And NTU's Sch of ADM.. i am very much interested in the BFA pgm in Digital Filmmaking, i visited their website and think the entry qualification is rather high.. not sure if the pgm is full time or part-time basis.. anyone can advise?? ..

the tution fees... .. well i think is reasonable for Master pgm. but too bad i cant afford unless got sponsor..

Somehow i don't really have a good impression of the NUS program. Are the programs skill oriented or more of a theoretical slant? Maybe because FSV people keep slamming it

The tisch school fees are too i think most locals would prefer the experience of overseas education at the actual tisch. I wonder what edb did to snag them in.

According to them.. the pgm is exactly same as if u taking in US.it is a Master pgm, so i believe the fees is abt there for a master, esp for a recognised sch.

I think otherwise.. if u are to travel abroad for such pgm, besides the tution fee, u have to pay for your accomodation, daily expenses, air ticket, etc... etc. in a way it is cheaper for any local who want to take up such pgm. but I hv to agree with u for some people may want to go abroad (provided they can afford) to experience diff culture n enviromnet.. just like foriegn students attending pgm in Sgp.
Well, foriegn students will spend here if they choose to study in Sgp.. further to tat, it will help to promote our little red dot globally. It may oso help to boost up local film industry.

in SP there's also Creative Media Design (CMD) and Music and Audio Technology (MAT).

they may not be film studies, but they are still part of the media industry and complements the film industry as well. u might want to add them in.

Lazerlordz mentioned the NUS programme, but my sentiments are the same for both unis in singapore. From what i witnessed/general impression, anyone can step in to say otherwise, unless you're trying to work in mediacorp, or trying for something other than researcher/producer, having a degree in film is like a general degree, without the specialisation you get from the polys, and isn't necessary.

i agree with u to certain extend. to land yourself a job is to have a good portfolio or showreel. but with a degree it open doors for you to work not just with mediacorp and other broadcaster.. but oso to any ministry or statutory board or in a teaching position. i think this master pgm from tisch is a specialisation in directing and producing.

talking abt SP, do u referring to the Specialise diploma that they offer? i think they have specialise in video too rite? hmm.. i am abit keen in tat too. anyone have attended tat b4?

hahas i'm in SP Dip in Digital Media year 2 doing 3d film and animation.. i'm the first batch of digital media students in SP and guess the only batch that will graduate with a major in 3d film and animation.. they are splitting the 2 into 2 separate courses after my year .. As for special dips.. not too sure but i sort of remember there is.. shall check it out

There is also NTU's sch of communication & information.

A 4 year honours degree programme and they offer a specialisation in Broadcast & Cinema Studies.

It is more suited for TV production though but with the school offering other specialisations like journalism and advertising, makes for a compatible environment to study the media perhaps?

Haha just had my hands on the Panasonic Varicam with 5 different prime lenses on my school project. And next year will be using it again. I love the Varicam hahaha. Super heavy camera but learn a lot and had a great experience using the Varicam. Solid! Hehehe ok sorry, im not here to promote, just that im very happy that i finally learn to use a film industry HD camera.
