Go & download the Photoshop CS3 Beta and try out yourself.

Nothing comes close to Adobe Photoshop for image editing/manipulation.

One of the best photo editing software is the Adobe Photoshop CS2 (or the new CS3) if you can afford it (cost about $1k+).

If not a much cheaper alternative would be its little brother, the Adobe Photoshop Elements 5.0. While it does not have all the bell and whistle of CS2, it do have more than enough tools to keep most average photographers happy.

Google for "paint.net". Free software and quite powerful.
As complexity rises, precise statements lose meaning and meaningful statements lose precision.

Huh, they ask for serial no. for Beta versions ar?
I downloaded the Adobe Lightroom Beta 4.1 n they never asked for serial no.

Anyway, u can seriously consider Lightroom also. It can do color tweaking, etc. But it cannot remove pimples from your subject's face, to put it simply.
