Thread: something on the lens confuse me

    Default something on the lens confuse me

    saw these two canon lens. to my surprise Lens A is cheaper that lens B. How come.. thought lens A got bigger aperture??

    EF 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM ------- lens A
    EF-S 17-85mm f/4.0-5.6 IS USM -------- lens B

    bigger apeture, but remember the most impt thing is : which lens give better quality image. I think u know the answer already..

    f/3.5 vs f/4 is not really that big an aperture difference...

    Aperture alone is not always a decisive factor for cost.

    Wider lens also more expensive.

    Not true. Try asking about the telephotos 500, 600, 1200 lenses.....

    What I meant was the wider ends also gets more expensive. in the TS case 17mm vs 28mm.
