Default The other Manchester

Quiet weekend so I drove halfway across the country to do a Division One game instead... and let's just say, the press hospitality is spectacular, second only possibly to Newcastle United... might have something to do with Kevin Keegan!

Coventry's Gary Breen tries to stop Shaun Goater from getting goalside.

Steve Howey hitches a lift on the shoulders of Coventry's Lee Mills.

Darren Huckerby is bundled over by a clumsy challenge from Coventry's
Barry Quinn.

Youssef Safri eludes the tackle of Man City's Danny Tiatto.

A tangled trio of arms and legs... (Kevin Horlock, Youssef Chippo, Stuart
Pearce from front to back)

Coventry's Muhamed Konjic tries to stop Darren Huckerby from
getting to the ball.

Contrasting fortunes, as Coventry manager Jim Smith can only
gesture frantically as Kevin Keegan can afford a wry smile.

Coventry's Jay Bothroyd tries to elude Darren Huckerby.

Manchester City's Shaun Wright-Phillips celebrates scoring his
second goal of the afternoon.

Muhamed Konjic and Darren Huckerby renew their battle.

Chinese defender Sun Jihai makes his debut as a substitute after
being transfered from Crystal Palace, and is shown a warm welcome
by Coventry's Lee Mills who sends him flying.

Danny Tiatto and Colin Healy fly in for a loose ball.

Coventry goalkeeper Tim Flowers denies Shaun Wright-Phillips his hattrick.

Sorry Jed, not trying to irritate you, but for those sport photos, what film at what settings are needed?

Very irritated

Just kidding

I have those Liverpool shots from the game against Leeds at Elland Road, already posted. Have some from the games at Newcastle and at Old Trafford, but that's it.

Film and settings depends largely on available light. Idea is to have at least 1/500 shutter speed to stop the action, with the lens shot wide open, and whatever film speed is necessary to achieve that. Over here where the light is rubbish, it tends to be Press 400 or 800. If the sun is shining it's possible to use ISO 100 stuff.

At night under Premiership floodlights it's usually 1/400, f2.8, ISO 1600.

How did you get so close to those players? Are you allowed on the pitch?

Not really, unless u crops with 500mm. Else its kinda hard to get these angles. And he mentions f2.8.

500mm f2.8

The bokeh certainly dun look like 500mm.

Violett: Thanks.

Bluestrike: No, you haven't guessed the lens

Shadus: Depends on which ground it is and what you classify as a pitch. But the angle that the pics are taken should give you a good idea of where I am (as in, not elevated). Yes I work for an agency so can get accreditation to most sporting events.

No afraid not, it's probably come a year too early for me. I am however doing the Commonwealth games in July.

Hey Jed,
Great shots! Your shots are definitely better than those I see taken in the S-League.
