Wow.. its all doom and gloom here since TH14 going to barca news came out.

Yes TH14, PV4, Pires etc are star players that left Arsenal and everyone says we're "doomed", "going downhill", "thats it, you're going down" etc etc when that happens.

But to put things in persepective; TH14, PV4 etc are NOT WORLD CLASS players before they played for Arsenal. Arsenal FC made them who they are.

Sometimes I find it silly that these senior players are demanding that the board and AW signs 'star players' so as to compete with Manu, Lpool and chelsea. If Arsenal signs star players, would Cashley Cole have the chance to break into the first team? Would TH14 have the chance to play? Would they (themselves) even be signed in the first place?

Arsene Wenger does not buy established stars - I think he considers that as some sort of 'cheating'. He rather bring them in young, Cesc Febregas, Van Persie(cat), Rosicky, Reyes, Anelka are good examples.

I dont think the future is bleak for Arsenal, we have a wonderful stadium, a young talented squad waiting to come good, a coach that plays soccer that is beautiful to watch and exciting. (not always I know). In Arsene I trust. Keep the faith

    unless it's 16M pds + E'too?
agree, 16M pds is really very low for TH

I think its a 'fair' price. Don't forget Arsenal will save in terms of wages paid to TH14. If I am not mistaken, Arsenal pays TH14 100K - 120K a week. Thats alot of savings, considering Arsenal has the 3rd highest total wages paid out in the EPL.

Anyway who knows the exact price? Arsenal usually dont announce transfer prices so the 16M figure may not be accurate.

But I think its good move, now the youngsters can really step forward and take up the challenge and responsibility.

Henry’s move to Barcelona is only the tip of the iceberg and the way I read the whole issue, he’s only a pawn being used by Barca… come on, Henry’s reaching 30 and even though he’s a star in his own right, I believe his best days are over. Do you honestly think he can reproduce the magic he has shown the last few seasons – the va va vroom, the box to box sprint and score etc?

I think the real target here is Wenger. Barca wants him to replace Rijkaard, not now but in a year’s time when Wenger’s contract expires. Barca knows that having Henry in their team will sway the decision for Wenger to come over (don’t forget Real has also shortlisted him). Both have made their declaration of their ‘love’ for each other and to read in between their statements so far, I can’t feeling that both will be re-united one day in Barca’s colors…

Other than Wenger, Barca also has their sights set on Cesc Fabregas... he’s young, talented and like Henry, has declared that he will follow Wenger.. Barca’s in for a very good deal over the next 2 seasons…

Henry is only a piece in their jigsaw... For now, to me, he’s merely the chief pawn...

The plot thickens… stay tuned…and remember, you heard it here first…

Interesting theory of looking at this situation

But I don't think AW will ever go to Real M, Barca maybe not also. Why? At Arsenal AW have so much control over the daily running of the club, the players diet, training regime etc. He even designed the training centre!

Right now AW can also choose who to replace David Dein as director of football (he hired Grimandi fyi). Where else can a manager or coach have so much power?

In Real, coaches are fired after a few bad results (Beckham had 6 coaches in 4 years at RM if i remember correctly). Real buys players based on who the Real chairman wants, not what the coach wants.

I am not too sure about Barca, but I dun think AW will have that kind of 'freedom' he enjoys in Arsenal over there either.

AW overlooked the building of the training facilities (Colney), the brand new stadium (Emirates), signings of a few bright young talents. Why does he want to leave all these goodies behind?

    Keep the faith

    FIRST GUN!!

Eduardo da Silva scores at Emirates Stadium (source: arsenal.com)

Eduardo da Silva has already made his mark at Emirates Stadium.

The Croatian striker, who is set to join Arsenal after the Club agreed terms for his transfer with Dinamo Zagreb, scored the first competitive goal at the Gunners' new home last August.

Da Silva fired Dinamo ahead 12 minutes into the second leg of a Champions League Third Qualifying Round tie at Emirates Stadium. Arsenal fought back to win 2-1 on the night and go through 5-1 on aggregate after a comfortable win in Croatia.

The 24-year-old Brazilian-born striker was Dinamo's most dangerous player against Arsenal and certainly caught the eye.

    --------------------------------------------------

Guess that means bye bye to e'too, anelka, martins, owen, tevez, babel etc etc etc...

i really dont think TH14 leaving is that big a loss. he didnt feature much in the later part of last season and i think gilberto did a better job as captain.

anyway, arsenal also cannot hold onto him forever, not like he can take the team into the next 5, 10 years..

I was devastated to know Henry was leaving

It seemed all doom and gloom for the gunners.

But what is done is done, arsenal has to move on. Most importantly, Arsene Wenger is still

    at Arsenal

The manager is far more important than any player in the club.

Look at Man Utd, they sold alway RVN last season and still manage to win the

    EPL.

Disappointed Torres not coming to Emirates.

Hope AW get to spend the money from the sale on a world class striker

AND NOT TO FINANCE THE STUPID STADIUM .

Emirates. Sponsor so little money and yet name after u. U should pay the entire

    stadium cost

    Woohoo!!! New player!!!

Got this comment about Eduardo da Silva from the web:

"You wanted a fox in the box and this guy Eduardo da Silva is lethal : balanced, fast, skilful, born to score goals, one of the best predators in football today.

What this Arsenal team needed last season was somebody who would make a run for Cesc, make a run for Hleb, make another run for Cesc, make a run for Rosicky, make a run for a longer ball from Gilberto.

Eduardo is that man. He knows when to run and where to run and he's a totally different kind of striker to van Persie or Adebayor or Bendtner. He will score the kind of jack-in-the-box goals that Ljungberg used to score."

written by Eduardo da Silva himself?

The biggest issue he will have to deal with is to cope with constant comparison to Henry.. that's added pressure to perfom.. i believe arsenal will change their style of play and be more direct with less fancy footing left to right, right to left and up to grandstand..

    Good luck Dudu..

AW style will always be stylish and entertaining but can be frustating to watch at times.. many games we could have won by 3, 4, 5 goals but end up losing by the 1 goal.. we need more entertaining and effective play though, perhaps a slight modification to game play only.

Definitely wont be Liverfool style zzzzzzz... or Chelski zzzzzzzzz boring play..
