hi guys
I know this has been asked 100 times before, but I can't get the 'search' function to work! Anyway, could someone tell me the most popular way to clean the sensor on D50? Either tell me, or put in the link to old discussion. You can see the noticeable spot on the mid lower right corner! Also... does the photo look sharp enough? I'm still wondering whether my D50 (2 months old) is producing slightly soft images. detail about the photo: 1/30, f29, iso 400, Med H sharpness setting, 18-55 kit lens (at 35mm) **hmm...just realised I can't actually post attachments....what do I need to do for that privelege? thank you all |

first read sticky in the newbies sub forum for instruction on how to post picture
best way is to let NSC clean it, if your camera is still under warranty second best way is to use a blower and try to blow away the dust.

(2) With regard to sharp photos: 1/30 - very high chance of getting unsharp photos here due to handshake / subj movement f29 - diffraction limit comes in, most lenses produce optimum sharpness ~f8 to f11 iso400 - introduces noise / reduces sharpness a little. try using iso200 Med H - this should be fine Work on your photo taking technique, in all likelihood, there is nothing wrong with the camera, but judging by the kind of settings u were using, and considering u aren't shooting macro, I feel u need to get the basics right. Try googling on exposure / depth of field. There are also many books in the lib which can teach u the basics of photography Hope this helps! Cheers ![]() |

thanks guys
will check if sensor cleaning is under warranty in Australia ;-) I too am scared about touching the sensor. The guy in the local shop was trying to sell me a blower-brush. Do many people use that for sensor cleaning? S |

Do not use blower-brush. Just use those blower without brush. Brushes will introduce dirt and stains onto the sensor.

When you talk about a dirty censor, are we talking about those obvious dust specks that appear on every picture? Ref: (http://www.flickr.com/photos/massrapid/350322671/).
I've had so much problems with the dirt thing! Sent it once to the Camera workshop for cleaning and it cost me $35, 2 weeks later, it came back again while I did a poor lens swap out in the open. If it can be cleaned on my own, perhaps I would try it out. |

Buy the biggest one lah. If still can not, that's must be a sticky dust. Must wipe it, or bring to service center.

Or use a compressed air canister to blow away the dust at a tilt angle to the CCD.

What you can do is to use the thumb to press on to the hole when you squeeze and release when you release the pump.
