Are you talking about the burst rate in Continous shooting mode?

D80 = 3fps
D200 = 5fps in Ch
= 3 - 5fps in Cl

Are you refering to vertical grip (or battery grip)? (No more motor drive for DSLR.)

Yes, vertical grip for D80 and D200 are different.

Basically vertical grip is used for:

1. Grip and shutter release for portrait composition (vertical).

2. Use of additional Li-ion batteries for extended shooting.

3. Use of AA batteries via battery holders

Anyone done a side by side test so far??

Hmmmmm.... rather interesting too. But does the number of metering cells have any impact on AF??

CAM1000 is just the AF sensor module. You can have a faster motor to focus the lens faster. The module just provides the feedback. So for AF-S lenses, the focusing speed on the D80 and D200 should be identical since the motor is in the lens.

If I'm using Tokina lens does it make a diff?
Sorry to ask, the motor in the len is also driven by a small screw thread from the cam?

I don't think there is a motor in the lens for Tokina. The lens is drivern by a shaft from the motor in the camera body.

could it be because of the slightly lesser lag time that makes d200 seems faster?
d200 was tested to have better lag time than the d80

Very easy to know.. cap up the lens, so when you half press, it will traverse to the closest distance and back to infinity. Then from infinity, repeat the half press then see how long it take the motor to traverse the lens from infinity to closest distance and back to infinity.

This way it is only a measure of the speed of the motor used. Nothing to do with lag.

Bros I tried with 80-200 len at CP Marina, D200 is faster and D80 take twice to get the focus.
Is this call huanting?

I focus the floor and infinity for compare with D80 vs D200.
D80 is slower for big zoom, D200 have a faster motor.
