Looks like those photos I see in exhibitions pamphlets. The characters mean "Long live to the Kingdom of Qin"?

really like this one... looks a lot like film and it has a very nice warm tone to it... well done

a question to satisfy my curiosity: the right part of the figurine blends completely into the black background (100% black). was there some shading left in the dark parts of figurine in the original file or were the exposure settings such that it is black? I wonder if the photo would gain by having a hint of the figurine left in the dark part....

oppps...other than addition of chinese characters.

of course when i said straight out of d200, i meant the picture itself such as exposure, levels or curves and such were not touched.

hello jeanie, i feel the photo doesn't tell 'story'...

i may try a little stronger light source that bring out face features..or i may try the light source from top...it is usually give dramatic feeling..

imagine, try the light source that from top..and pull away your distance..and frame the statue smaller... it will bring a feeling that you see a statue in a distance..and u daren't go near..and the light had make the statue mysterious..

thanks very much for the suggestion.
will try it when i have time over the weekends.

some lighting expert also pm me to say the lighting is flat for the head crop and on second looks, it does look flat.

i dunno man, but i can't really appreciate a photograph of a statue, painting, sculpture or other art works, unless u posting up on ebay to sell it...?

that said, i guess u're just testing out different lighting techniques and having fun in ur new studio type set up.

now to the picture at hand, i find it slightly under.
