Default speedlights

hi my fellow nikon users,
i've just gone digital and got myself a D80 and i'm loving it. i was thinking of getting a speedlight to go with it. any recommendations? i was think of the SB400 or SB 600. was reading a few post back about the CLS and all. could you give me your advices? how about metz flashes? and what's all this TTL things? the only flash i've worked with is studio flashes shooting with film. thank you.

SB800

TTL = Thru The Lens metering.

Do a search for SB400, SB600, SB800 in the nikon thread and you will know the difference.
