Hmm... But #2 seems out of focus... You can't get too far off with such small aperature size as they give you much DOF... My guess is that you went nearer than the min. focusing distance....

As far as I know, 50mm have quite a far min focusing distance. Looking at the picture (assume that you didn't crop), it is way too close. Since you do not have a macro lens, maybe you can use the lens with the smallest min focusing distance to shoot?

i started a thread in nikon folder asking which is best to use to shoot the watch since i dont have a mac lens.
IIRC, someone mentioned 50mm1.4 has a focusing of 40cm or so.and i thought that will be good.

Extension tubes will go between body and lens. Its supposed to be better than close-up filters cause there is no glass in between causing degradation in quality. Cost? Around $190 at CP for a 3-in-1 Triplus brand set (3 tubes of different length). A lot cheaper if you get just 1 pc.

Suggestion is to raise a WTB in the marketing forum as a lot of people are selling their 3-in-1 sets of extension tubes at around $150 or below. Since tubes do not have glass, there is lesser fear of getting a deffective set.

    yup, someone called?

much better lighting, but not good enough
see the faint line from the box .... not nice
the "40" area is still too dark, add another reflector there
"30" area has an unwanted reflection
"20" area the button is not lit and has become black - more reflectors

    what's a plamp?

14 reflectors?you're talking about white paper, styrofoam or real-deal reflectors such as those from lastolite or photoflex?

    this is a plamp
an extra pair of hands to hold stuff

reflectors can be anything, the smaller the object the smaller the reflector you need
steel rule, foam, paper, cardboard, cd ... anything that will reflect light

different material will give you different light, experiment
