What do you set on your D80? In particular, what have you done to optimise the image ? (exposure, speed, colour etc)

If you are asking this question, you really need to get to know your camera better. Hint..... the manual......

best is go out and take a shoot... RTFM doesn't tell you wat setting to use at wat situation, you gotta experience it yourself.

I don't use the D80 but the same applies. My preferred settings? Do you have 3 days 3 nights? I can go all day long. There isn't much point asking about preferred settings as you rightfully put it, different folks, different strokes. It does't help too not knowing what you shoot and your expectations. What do you mean by optimising exposure, speed and colour for starters???

Thank you. That was useful! I agree that nothing beats shooting and experimenting and I have been doing just that. Thanks again! |

The most important thing when you use a D80 (this may not apply so much to other cams) is the amount of exposure compensation, you may want to use a negative (-) EV most of the time, I shoot as much as -2.0 in bright sunlight, this is because the D80 gives, by default, very bright, spectacular images, but you have to be a bit mindful when shooting during the day.
Other than that, you will need to change ISO, shutter speed, aperture depending on what you want to do. Or else shoot in P mode with auto ISO and take the D80 take care of everything except composition. That's it, just go shoot and share some pics here with us |
