Very slim chance. The so called 'talents' that are scouted are most probably required to pay fees to learn how to model. As u may already know, its more than just having a pretty face and a nice body that is needed to becoming a successful model as a career.

should be careful whether they are talking about whether they are scouting for talents or models...they mean different things in the industry...
as I have explained here:" - in the top tier, there are models: those you see on the runways, in glam fashion brand ads and stuff who command the highest fees. - in the mid tier, there are talents: those who look good but might not have some requirements to be models as dictated by the mainstream fashion industry, like not tall enough, not skinny enough, etc. Its cruel and unfair but there you have it. There are also talent opportunities for people who look outstandingly unique... - those in the last tier, the extras: who look pleasant but not outstanding enough to hold an ad or image on his or her own. Of course, can go down tier, like models can take "talent" jobs and talents can take "extra" jobs, but usually not up a tier..." if a person doesn't have what it takes, unless that person knows very influential people, that person will not become a model, no matter how much grooming or training applied... that is not to put down talents...there are some very good ones around... but if the agency asks to pay them first for "grooming", then think before acting walk in may not be worse...if one looks like Giselle Bundchen but having spent youth in the mountains with no scouts around, then walking into a modelling agency oneself to apply is certainly not gonna hinder your career... ![]() |

Does anyone know anything about I Models International? Heard it's not a registered modeling agency, but a photography studio disguised as one.

i gotta ask, what do these agencies do?
are they teaching the girls how to act, pose, carry themselves or is it just a collection of girls that "wannabe" models but are really getting no instruction and guidance. |

they teach yes, but at a fee that those girls have to pay. After all, they are running a BUSINESS. Wadever can get $$$ into their pockets. Doesn't matter whether those girls end up modelling for them. Of cos SOME (v few i heard) do end up modelling. Most just get turned away after the course which they paid for. Mission accomplished, lock on new target.

like I mentioned earlier, there are models and there are talents ... basically the better the potential, the lesser the candidate has to pay (if at all) the agency... so be aware when approached and manage expectations...

I never liked the idea of paying talent agencies- though the practice existed locally for so long.
I remembered there was once a 'reporter' who once called my uncle's enterprise wanting to 'interview' him and write up about his company for a 'business' magazine. In the end, we found out only on the day that a 'fee' is required- USD 8,000. Mind you that my uncle's company is just a small private limited and this magazine is some 'ulu' (not heard of) magazine that I myself am left in a daze upon hearing it. Then again there used to be a time tons brokers and MLM people abused the job classifieds pretending to job offers with enticing offers of 'work at home', 'make $10,000 within a month' thingy in the classifieds. When you go for the interview, they'll pretend to interview you then ask if you got minimum $3,000 to start up the job (or invest). These people are plain miserable and wicked in the sense that you are already out of job and they are trying hard to con you of your last dollar. Thank God these people are banned at least from the Straits Times. So the pinicle of this is that people will pay you if they think you are good and has the potential for them to invest in. Never pay a single dime to people who claim you're good or have the potential and yet still ask you for money. As for the photoshoot and portfolio thing, we can always do in reputable photo studio who really specialise in this field. I seldom believe a all in one specialisation as in talent agency cum model agency cum photo studio cum video procduction cum animation specialist thingy unless the profile of company is so big that it can host so many specialisations. Just to add, there's no lack of talents in our neighboring countries. Their monetry expectations are lower than locals. So if some locals claims that you got talents in modeling, you must be cream de la cream de la cream.... Last edited by eyes; 19th May 2007 at 07:58 AM. |
