Post Nikon patent describes fisheye lens for different formats

Photographer and software developer Jarle Aasland recently discovered that Nikon has developed - and patented - interesting lens technology meant to enable the use of a single fisheye lens on cameras with different-size film or digital sensors, all the while retaining an angle of view of 170 degrees or more.

Interesting,maybe they are coming with a newer fisheye lens.

I think it might signal that Nikon is probably ready to go FF while retaining the DX format. That would be the only reason why Nikon would need a Fisheye lens that covers different formats.
