    I'm intending to buy the 36mm Ext tube for my 180mm. What will be the out come? Anyonr tried before?

    The effect of extension tube on telephoto is limited. Extension tube is more effective for lenses of shorter focal length, e.g. 50mm.

    so you can focus on much nearer subjects with you 180mm lens

    I use a 52.5mm extension tube on my 180mm, occassionally with a 2x teleconvertor. Can take quite nice insect pics with a good working distance.

    your depth of field is so shallow that it iwill be very difficult to control...you will probably need very very stable hand or a tripod
