Thread: Someone committed suicide near my place

Unhappy Someone committed suicide near my place

It was at Block 47 Durham Road, 15min walk from Mustafa.

I was heading to the hawker centre to have my breakfast/lunch when i passed by small pockets of people looking at the same direction. There, a middle-aged chinese man lay flat, his chest facing the floor. Blood was coming out from his face.

An old Malay man urged me to call the police because he was complaining people "just" watch and never called the police. So i called the police. I guess he didn't have a mobile phone.

I had my D80 with me, but just find it too unbearable to take the picture of a dead man who i think must have a very difficult life that he resorted to such measure to end his misery. By the way, the Block 47 is one of those flat where itz very compact one, i think govt rent out very cheaply or free to those who are in dire cases.

I think people really need Jesus to bring them into a life of hope.

Sad...I also stayed near Pei Kio market.
No wonder heard hawkers talking abt it.

I noticed there are alot of suicide cases and most age group falls between 35-50.
Guess probably out of job and facing finanicial problems that drive him to this end.

With the increase widening poor-rich income gap, you will see more people committing suicides....

Some people walk on a fine line.

Not meaning that there is anything wrong with them,

just that their ability to deal with some things in life is lower than say you or me.

Some people stress where others take it in their stride.

To some people, a speck of dust on a window can send them into a cleaning frenzy,

to some, a car pulling out in front of them can cause road rage.

    It is life.

I feel sorry about it but I am also happy that my threshold is high enough for me to still be here.

As a question regarding outside help ... do you have societies such as "Red Cross" there

    Cheers

Lately I noticed more people talikng to themselves in the public transport than say ten years ago. Some even in office clothing. I guess Singapore is a stressful place for some, if not many.

my younger cousin passed away due to falling from 9th or 10th stories high. police did classify it as unatural death but failed to give us a reasonable and valid explaination for his death up to now. it's been a few years already.

he was 18 and about 190+cm. it was just a day after mother's day and he's a straight A student in ACJC. we don't have any idea why he did it or even worse, was it possible that someone murdered him? but his wallets and everything was still intact.

    we have no idea.

Hung herself at the employer's home ??? Wow!!!
Must be damn scary for the owners....esp during 7th month or Halloween.

Creepy to come out at night for a drink of water.....might see a figure dangling from the ceiling.....

    Hi dr34mc4st3r,

Yes, I think you are right about Red Cross although I imagine that they will help anybody in need.

Never the less, here or possibly there are other organizations such as "St Vincent De Paul"

Often it is sad to realise that some people that are at a loss,

don't realise that there are people out there for them and dedicate their life to them.

    Cheers

    P.S.

Things don't have to get worse......... We have to get better !

You don't have to come out at night for a drink of water to see it.

It will be there if it wants you to see it.

It's really sad to hear of such news. I personally know of 2 friends who committed suicide while in the prime of their lives. I think it's really important to stay accountable to friends or someone you are comfortable with during difficult times. Was in Hong Kong a while ago where they broadcast advertisements with the suicide hotline (i.e a number you can call if you are contemplating it). I'm not sure how successful it is but I think it's quite a good idea. Sometimes friends or family may be too occupied with their own affairs to note the despair one may face so professional help would be good too.

I think for those people whom the Lord brings into our lives, we can be sensitive to their despair if any and lend a listening ear and a shoulder to cry on in their time of need. Sometimes that timely heart-to-heart chat, a bear hug or a sms of concern might encourage a person to perservere and not walk down the lonely path of suicide.

Why make it a big news? You first time heard of people commiting suicide or die? Just get the police to get the body of the road then cremate/bury him quickly!
