Thread: Tripods: Sony or PPCP?

    Default Tripods: Sony or PPCP?

Was considering the VCT-D680RM or the popular PPCP tripods for use with an A100. (i already have a wired remote though). Any tips which would be better?

ppcp for me anytime.. or you can look up for the slik 330dx or 340dx... imho they are slightly stronger than ppcp but came with a default pan-tilt instead of ballhead.

Cool, thanks for the tip! I'll walk down to MS Photo and reserve a PPCP.

I think it's between Benro & PPCP. Both are equally good to me.

Yeah.... The Benro is aluminum, the PPCP is CF. Benro's build looks a bit more solid, the PPCP is lighter.

Im using a PPCP. Mounted my 400D with battery grip and a giant 70-200 F2.8L. The tripod is sturdy enuf. With budget, PPCP serves me well

it is a 1 time purchase. Even if you upgrade your system, change system, your tripod is still usable. If you buy a cheap tripod, upgrade and upgrade you spend more money instead.

    that said.. Gitzo

you sure ppcp is cf? benro has CF and Alu versions.. I'm quite sure PPCP only has alu version. On the whole it's a good deal, my only gripe with it is that the locks are plastics. I have broken plastic locks before on a trip rendering me with an unusable tripod and have sworn off them.

I like Benro for the build but the thread locking knobs for the legs are very troublesome.
    Well, up to individual preference.

PPCP's tripods are made of ALU. We cut down on the weight by the having a different materiel for the joint which connects the legs. This part is where most companies have them as solid steel, ours is an ALU Alloy material. PPCP tripods are OOS at the moment (out of stock) - trying to add upgrades to them before next shipment comes in Feb/March.
