ques about cokin filters

i managed to dig out some old cokin ND filters.

it was written ND 8x and ND 4x.

how many stops of light does the above 2 cuts?

ND 4x =2 stops

...where f = number of stops of reduction

e.g. ND 64x

64 = 2^6
.... therefore 6 stops reduction
