Coffee table print

Hi,

Anyone know where to print out coffeetable print which is in hard card form which is much more cheaper?
I saw some of the coffeetable pages printed in hard card form rather than printed on photo paper followed by matt lamination on it.

Been to some color centre and they do provide this services, but it is very expensive. cost abt two hundred over.

The albums that you see in the color centre that are "hard card form" are actually normal lab processed photos that are laminated, then mounted on a hard board. Next step is to trim of the 3 edges with power cutter to make it look neat, giving the appearance that it's printed on hard board.

If you consider 2 hundred over as ex, any cheaper you really have to do it yourself. But let me work it out for you.

Take a 8x12 book, that opens up to 16x12, cheapest lab that can print that for you is about $7-8 per piece, laminating a 16x12, about $5-6 at least. Blank albums that are readily available can cost between $60-90. So we have about $75 (prints only) + $60 (Lam, or you can DIY) + Album $60, which works out to $135 - 195.

These doesn't count in the handiwork that you need to put in, aligning the pages to the edge ain't easy.

Checkout fotohub www.fotohub.com , a 30 page 6x6 will cost you about 68$, that is including binding with cheapest cover and without layout cost. check with them for the price of larger size albums.

you can also order from online stores such as shutterfly, snapfish, pixart or sharedink. The paper on these are more like the published photobooks you buy from borders but not like thick and stiff cardboard.

personally I have tried shutterfly, snapfish and pixart. (google them for their website) They all deliver to singapore.

For snapfish i paid including shipping for a 30odd page 8x10 is around $60.

for shutterfly i paid with shipping for 40 odd page is $80.

Shutterfly software has more templates and borders to use therefore more fun and choices then snapfish and pixart.

Printing for all the books i made is acceptable. Even though some pictures under close examination can see artifacts, will always receive positive comments from people who have seen the books.

Think it is 176gsm glossy paper.
The total bill came to $89(with GST) for a 40 page booklet. However, I opted for the red colored linen hard cover. According to the e-mail, it will take them 7 days if delivery is within Singapore.

The embedded software for you to create the album is relatively easy, the only thing I hoped for is that they would have more options for the frames. So far, the current program only catered for 4 different types of frames surrounding the photos.

Or you could do your own layout and send to them for printing?

Arrived yesterday, but errr.......not that incredible.
Even my little monster lamented that the prints from our Epson printer is better.

Although the color rendition is quite accurate, the resolution seems to be either grainy or highly compressed. So, we were quite disappointed with the results. The straight lines and edges is perfect, but the diagonal lines appeared skewed and jagged.

The paper quality is relatively good, but the printout looks like a dye sublimation whereby you can actually see the layers of each color. So, not too impressed with it.

I basically opted for an orange coloured linen cover. But they binded mine in blue linen and wrapped it in a printed holiday-themed cover.

Although I am not too impressed with the quality, I don't have any regrets either as this is more of a novelty for me. Quite unique to have a photo book rather than a photo album.

One tip for everyone who intends to try it out.....do not use small images.....try to use two images per page. Using three or four images tends to reduce the quality.

Thanks for sharing your review. I like the packaging, very detailed and professional. Pixart got no packaging: basically they put the book in a bubble envelope and wrapped it with some cardboard.

Packaging looks good, but from what was described, the prints are a little let down.

Hi, have u seen Fotohub's samples? If u have, maybe can comment on wat u have above and from Fotohub's?

U can view their sample @ their Suntec store....I saw them and i feel its quite good. But I dunno are theirs comparable to other coy's
