Curious on a fully charged D200, how long can the bulb mode shot last? 8hours?
Has anyone done it? Please share your experience. Thanks |

May I inquire on the sort of picture you are interested in taking with this function? Bernard |

Ah yes, if I remember correctly, that's the effect where you get dotted rings of light from a point source of light (eg: a star).
You can attempt to do an extrapolation, but it may not be accurate. Use the battery info to determine that your battery is at 100%, then go bulb mode for 20 min, check you battery info and exprapolate from there. This may not be accurate in the first place and probably will vary with the battery condition. If you really need the long exposure, have you considered the battery pack? Bernard |

you prob need an external power source for that... but IMO, better to do film in that case...

Maybe what can concern u as well is whether there's any overheating strategy to switch off the sensor on extemely long exposures.
Perhaps it would be good to check with Nikon on this before you give it a try? ![]() |

I seriously doubt can last 8hrs if you shoot in Bulb Mode. I got 2 batteries, without using MB-200. Shoot in Bulb mode of exposure ranging from 4 minutes to 8 minutes per shots, RAW format. Can only last me 3 to 4 hours. Last edited by Francis247; 7th January 2007 at 09:20 PM. |
