Is this a Bee?

This kind of looks like a bee, but I don't know what kind. Maybe it's a wasp. I took this picture yesterday. Any constructive criticism on the photo would also be welcome, as I'm just beginning to learn how to take better pictures. Taken with Canon 350D with a Canon 75-300mm USM lens.
