I just stood there watching the rays, listening the waves, breathing in the cold morning sea breeze... Awesome therapy for the SOC training

Place is "dirty" but i guess that is what gives its "charm". The change in atmosphere is most felt at sunrise. Yes, don't bring the cam in, its not worth it. It's not easy for a recruit to be charged, don't give them a reason to. Unless you're in *ahem* white horse coy, they'll usually standby everything after visting day. Hard to keep a SLR
Dude, i thought you like "dirty" things during guard duty? hahaha......

Is this Tekong an island that is solely occupied by the military then?
(Sorry but I'm not a Singaporean, I just to stay and work here)

Please, It was not Mr Brown who caused this act to be strictly implemented.

It was those jokers (NSMen) who played punks with their rifles during guard duty and uploaded it on YouTube.

The Miyagi incident did not caused much trouble because it was a Queensland training grounds and he's a reservist.

Bloody wish I could walk around those areas again and yes capture the sunrise though the morning mists. Do you guys know that theres even a hots springs at unom? Solid man..

They swam back to Johor on their own accord. Mum elephant prob pulling Dad elephant's ear "See!! I told you to look at the map when we were at Kukup!! You say no need! You very experienced in the area! End up instead of going to Pulau Ubin to visit your old friend the wild boars, end up in what Tekong island that has lots of strange men in green clothes."

Only one elephant, not many. Anyway, it was rounded up with the help of the Johor wildlife dept staff and sent back to Malaysia. As for bringing in camera or camera phones, the rules against camera have been there since the early days of SAF.

A file will be opened on you and you can forget about being a civil servant or any sort of scholarship, you have earned yourself a place on the names list of possible security risks. Post 9/11 is a very paraniod place, the authorities are on constant high alert and so dont go get yourself into damn deep **** because of some urge to take a photo. You might say they are overdoing things but well just look at the security at Jurong Island!
please man. if it's so high security, why do you think teenage magazine can just go there and do some interview and take pictures? though not of their armskote or anything but i remember theres a shot of their main office in front of TFT.

JC students also came to "visit" tekong and went into some of the training area. i believe it's FIVE JCs. so i believe the only thing very classified there is their armskote. it can't be that highly classified since its a place made for parents to send their sons in. they will have to make that place for the parents to see as well. and phones, i was just from the june batch adn the hp camera thingy only was implemented halfway into my BMT, stating too many videos of singapore camps.

anyway my pop parade, one of the cs member also came to take photos for me. of course places are restricted but it's not a very highly security place. unlike my present camp....

bmtc is not heavily guarded lah me thinks. it's just a sch. it's usually ops areas that are under high security.

it's not unusual for a camera or two to be brought along during your field camp.

TEKONG! fond memories of my time in mohawk 6 months ago...okay not so fond...or maybe a mix of fond and un-fondness... that place is slack man..the security and all...they don't even bother to check your bags properly at the changi ferry terminal...towards the end of my bmt they didn't even bother at all...

remember the time i needed to take a dump during my field camp at the reclaimed land....early morning and i saw light streaming through the canopy..beautiful......

on a separate ocassion in sispec, was on an ambush mission somewhere near fibua village and was waiting to be deployed by my sect comm... saw beads of rain drops on a spider web on the ground....beautiful... wished i had my camera on both occassions...

i wouldn't mind going back to tekong just to shoot with my camera and not my m16/sar 21...

mandai is another story altogether though...

Letter of authorisation is usually only issued to one or a few official photographers for some official event or function. For casual photo-taking, this is usually not granted.

Well, at least you got a view. The view I had from Jaguar company was that of the SOC grounds, a view which a headless ghost in long No. 4 also apparently shared. He would intermittently appear on the first floor, or so it was said.
