Any users of the abovementioned lens?
I read the review on The Digital Picture, and it sounded quite negative. Don't know if YMMV from lens to lens. Info would be very much appreciated. Thanks guys. |

i've read that the sigma 24-60mm is better. it's sharper and has better contrast than the sigma 24-70mm.
i use a 24-60mm now and indeed, in comparison to the tamron 28-75 that i have now, the colour and contrast are much better. the tamron however, is sharper. I'm deciding whether to keep the tamron or the sigma. but id advise u to go for the 24-60mm instead over the 24-70 Last edited by Isaiahfortythirtyone; 4th January 2007 at 11:04 PM. |

using it for 6months already... it quite a good lens but it is heavy and the 82mm is quite an headache, compare it with a Canon 24-70L, you can feel that the AF is slightly slower. But if you ae running on a budget, this lense is not too bad, I have no complaints given its price/performance ratio.

i used to have this lens. it was a great lens albeit a bit on the loud side for the af.
it resolved colour and detail well. upgraded to the L as it resolved colour, detail and sharpness even better. also is weather sealed - helped a lot when it was snowing. actually, the colour, detail and sharpness is VERY close to the L. the justification really isn't there to pay 3.5x the price for the L as it isn't 3.5x better than the sigma. |

The sigma loses out to the L for sure, especially in terms of focusing speed. Not sure if it's a problem with my copy, but the lens creep is pretty bad. But good value for the price.
Focusing is noisy compared to the L. IQ wise, not too bad. Post process my photos anyway, so not a very big issue. If u can afford it, go for the L. If not, the sigma is good value. |
