Default Bug hunting @ SBG (HRH)

Insects and Sunbirds alike were pretty skittish today. Some picks:

20D + Sigma 180 macro + 1.4x TC + MT-24EX + Monopod @ 1/250s, f16, ISO 200

20D + Sigma 180 macro + 1.4x TC + MT-24EX + Monopod @ 1/250s, f16, ISO 200

20D + Canon 100 macro + 1.4x TC + Natural light + Handheld @ 1/250s, f7.1, ISO 800

20D + Canon 100 macro + 1.4x TC + Natural light + Handheld @ 1/200s, f6.3, ISO 800

Critiques and comments greatly appreciated.

Lol. Thanx. But my hands actually aren't all that stable either which is why i still prefer to use a monopod.

Mmm.. not many comments. Maybe i need a more creative thread title to get people to click. Hur hur.

Hmm. That's weird. I just asked a few people and they can see the pics. Strange.

Gosh! The colours of the damselfly are so rich and I counted the number of eyes on the dragonfly's compound eye, exactly 542.

Care to tell whats your eqpt apart from the Kenko and the monopod?

Thanks. Erm. I actually didn't have to set up the camera on the tripod or anything. All of the shots were either taken with a monopod or handheld. It's just a matter of spotting potential subjects and then slowly moving in to get close to them. Of course, that doesn't always work, which is why patience and perseverance is a virtue in shooting macros.

How you make the insects pose for you?

Nice work!
