Default Brightness of my video clips adjustable?

I have took some video clips using my digital camera.

I found the clips too dim. Is there any editing software that I can use to adjust the brightness of the video clips?

Use gamma correction if possible. It will brighten up the mid-tones without affecting the highlights and shadows.
