    Default Had anyone tried to use a normal SLR len in DSLR?

    Hi,

    I had just brgt a new Nikon D40 DSLR and will like to use my SLR len with the DSLR camera,is it viable?what are the pros and cons?

    For D40 I think only AFS lenses will autofocus. Other than that it should mount no problem, unless it's a really old lens.

    You will need an AFS lens. The D40 only works with AFS lens for AF. I think you can use any other compatible lens for MF.

    my Len is a 60-300mm Koboron Len,issit ok?

    Unless its a nikon mount you might need an adpater.Even then you might have to set the apreature on the lens manualy and dial thecorrect setting on the camera. You might lose the AF capability too.

    i am not sure for D40, but for D100, D70/s, and D50, you cannot meter with those manual focus lenses, so much for the backward and forward "compatibility" of F-mount

    BTW, if you are using really old non-AI lens, better dont use on new bodies or it may cause mechanical damages

    where you bought ur cam? go ask them lol. else i can suggest john 3:16 very good customer service, just that you might need to wait a while, usually after 9pm best

    The shop's name is "John 3:16 Photo Supplies" is on Level 5 in front of the escalator.
